Coconut shell spoon

 

1.o   ya rana am, o aro   so anioy am,

主格        主格 很多 斜格 椰子   

ji to mizangkap manga anak ko,

     普遍       親愛的 孩子 

ta o mateteneng saon manga anak ko am,

主格 比較懂得       親愛的  孩子   

ji asengseng’aen am ori sira.

    嫌煩的         那個 他們

[:這個東西呢, 椰子多的人家,或是不嫌麻煩的人,才會有這些東西,不是每個家裡都有的]

As for this thing, only those people who have many coconuts or are not afraid of the extra work have them. Not every family has them.

 

2.o   aro so  nioy am, no mian so royoy na am,

 主格 很多 斜格 椰子         斜格 椰子殼  

“ji nio 要用-a tatavo ta  a ranom ta,

  你們         臼水具 我們      我們

ta akzikzikziin ko a iros ta an” koan na,   

     切割,切片       我們       

[:種很多椰子的人家呢,如果摘了椰子,有椰子殼時,就說你們別把椰子殼做成水壺,因為我要把它切片做成椰殼匙”]

For those families with many coconuts, when they pick coconuts and are left with a shell, they say, “Don’t use this coconut shell as a water bottle because I am going to cut it up and use it as a coconut shell spoon.”

 

3.”ta kongoen mo mo ama ang?”

       做什麼    父親   

“akziin, ta to mo zaposa o kadai ori a, ji ta ngirosa?”

   切片        用手摸 主格 小米 那個   我們 用湯匙

“ay, a ori?!” akzikziin na rana ori  no  ama na,

    那樣     切片         已助  那個 屬格 父親

kaparepareng na rana sira a iros a,

   然後做         已經  他們     

[:”爸爸,你要做什麼用?””切片啊,難道你吃小米要用手抓,而不用匙嗎?“,是這樣啊?!” 他們的父親就把椰殼切成一片一片,然後做成了匙]

“Dad, what are you going to use it for?” “I’m going to cut it up. Are you going to use your hands and not a spoon when eating millet?” “Oh, is that so?!” So their father cut the coconut shell into pieces and made them into spoons.

 

 

4.a alilikey a iros am, ninginangina da rana do jia

     小小的            已買        他們 已經 處格

o   karoan na am, alilikey a iros am,

主格 其它的       小小的     

[:我本來有很多小小的椰殼匙,但有一些已被人買走了]

I had several small coconut spoons before, but some of them were bought by other people.

 

5. no nimatazak a tao a, kaji da pa makalaman am,

       出生          且不 他們    走路      

ipangiros da  so inavosng a ipakan da  sira so inavosang

  用湯匙   他們 斜格   糊粥      餵食  他們 他們  斜格  糊粥

o   ya likey a iros ang,

主格   小的      

[:若孩子生下來以後,在還不會走路以前,父母親就會用這小匙給孩子餵食糊狀的食物]

After a child is born and before he/she can walk, parents will feed him/her mushy foods with this spoon.

 

6. ipakan da sira no niapoan da   o  ya lilikey

     餵食  他們 他們 屬格  父母   他們 主格   小小的

a iros ori a,  ya  o  ya rarako a iros ori am,

   那個    主格   大大的     那個 

no piavehan am, mipangengsad sira so kadai,

屬格  月份名        紛紛樁米     他們 斜格 小米

a kong koan da, ji sia kmi misesebseban do kakamaligan.

什麼     他們  他們      樁米聲      處格    船屋

[:父母親用這些小匙餵他們的孩子用,至於這些大的匙呢,就是每年到了Piavehan(約當國曆的六七月),家家戶戶都會樁小米,尤其到船屋區時,你可以到處聽到樁小米的聲音]

Parents use these small spoons to feed their children. As for these large spoons, every year during the month of Piavehan (about June or July), families will pound the millet. Particularly when you reach the boat houses area, you will hear everyone pounding millet.

 

7.”ajin na pangsadan ni  kaka ta ang?”

    哪裡      樁米     屬格 哥哥 我們

“do kakamaligan” “a do ajin mi ko pangsadan ya,

 處格    船屋        處格 哪裡      樁米    

a ya ji manvalang o  araw”, makatlo araw sira

           主格 太陽     共三        他們

a mangsad so kadai do piavehan am,

   樁米  斜格  小米 處格  月份名  

ori pipipangayan no iros ya, 

那樣    意思        屬格   

[:”大哥去哪裡樁小米了?””去船屋那裡””啊喲,那我該去哪裡樁米好呢?太陽那麼大”, 每年的piavehan月時,大概會連著三天都在打小米,這個匙,就是在那個時間裡特別會用得到]

“Where did older brother go to pound millet?” “At the boat house.” “Oh, where should I go pound millet? The sun is so bright!” Every year during the month of piavehan, one will spend about three straight days pounding millet. This spoon is specially made to be used at that time.

 

8.ta no dengdengen da rana ya am, aro  o  mangmay,

               他們        很多 主格 做米糕

atjitjipen da am, ji ateyapia a kanen o nimay a,

    切塊     他們      非常好        主格   

[:至於小米的煮法呢,很多人會做小米糕,吃時切成一塊一塊,還真的好吃呢]

As for how to cook millet, many people make millet cakes. When you eat it you cut it into little pieces. It tastes very good.

 

9.o    tatasa  am, no mangmay sira am,

  主格 少數,部份       做糕     他們

ji ateneng sira mangmay am,

          他們   做糕    

“to ta na ngirosa an, ta ko ji atenngi”

  我們    用湯匙          

“a ji ka teneng pa ya mangmay? apia o  ya irosen ito?”

                做糕        主格 用湯匙  那個

“a komoan am? Ya ko katenngan o  ya  taritariin ang?”

   能怎樣         知道    主格     切割

   他們   那樣

[:可是有些人不會做小米糕,”我不會做小米糕,我們只好用匙挖來吃囉”“啊唷,你還不會做小米糕哦,你看,我們只能用湯匙吃””有什麼辦法,我就是不會做可切成一塊塊來吃的那種嘛?” 像這樣的情形]

However, some people do not know how to make millet cakes. “I don’t know how to make millet cakes. I guess we will have to eat it with a spoon.” “Oh, you still don’t know how to make millet cakes? 10.o mateneng am, mangogog so kadai,

  主格              攪動    斜格 小米

no pabokboken da   o  kadai ori am,

    倒下      他們 主格  小米  那個

ji da  pangoa, a no mownay rana kombaz ori am,

他們            很久   已經   滾燙   那個

kowen da rana  o  nipabokbok da kadai do kombaz ori am,

    他們 已經 主格   倒下      他們 小米  處格  滾燙  那個 

a no pagloen da rana am, miciataketakeh am,

  倒下   他們 已經         結塊的      

[:懂得煮小米的人,還可以做小米粥呢。煮小米粥時,他們都等水滾了以後(小米)才倒進鍋裡, 又等滾了以後才開始攪拌,(熟了以後)倒在大碗或盆子裡,這時就會看見很多個結成塊狀的小米]

Those who understand how to cook millet can also make millet porridge. To make millet porridge, they would wait until the water boils before pouring the millet in, then wait for it to boil again before stirring. (Once it is done) you would pour it into a large bowl or basin. At this time, you will see many clumps of millet.

 

11.kalaen da  o  taketakeh na ori am,

         他們 主格  小米塊    那個 

“eng, asio  o  rako a taketakeh na ya” koan da ori a,

      怎有 主格 大的    小米塊          他們 那個

“ajin o vonong mo mo ama”, “o   ito”,

 哪裡 主格 份內     父親    主格 那裡

“eng ya pia o  takeh na” koan da am,

     主格 小米塊       他們

ori  o mateneng a mangogog,

那樣 主格           攪動

[:他們吃小米粥時,他們最愛吃小米塊了,”,這裡有大塊的小米塊””爸爸,你的呢””在這裡啊”, ”,小米塊好好吃哦!” 這是會煮小米粥的人的情形]

When they eat the millet porridge, the best part is the clumps of millet. “Oh, here is a large clump of millet.” “Dad, where is yours?” “Right here.” “Oh, this clump of millet is delicious!” This is what happens when someone knows how to cook millet porridge.

 

12. o ji ateneteneng a mangogog am, kapakasi na am,

   主格    懂得           攪動         可憐      

ji aranom am, ori pipipangayan no iros ya,

  多水的     那樣     意思       屬格   

[:不會煮小米粥的人呢, 小米粥可能會煮的很稀, 真可憐! 這就是這個湯匙的用處]

Those who do not know how to cook millet porridge are pitiful because their millet porridge will be very watery. This is the purpose of the spoon.

 

13. “ji ateyapia kanen o  takeh na,  a  ka makongo ori”

         最好的       主格 小米塊         怎麼樣  那樣  

[:小米塊,真的好吃呢,你知道嗎]

Millet clumps are very delicious, you know.
