魚類的處理 pingpingen a among

Preparing fish

Vokoen means taking a larger fish and cutting it down the middle and opening it up to dry. Of course, bringing back freshly caught fish and throwing it immediately into the pot to cook is very wasteful. This is because people in that past loved having company.

2.am apia pa  o   aro rana o   nivoko  am,

aro rana o niteyray,  ta ji to mangapi

If you have stored a lot of dried fish or have dried a lot of fish, then you are ok, because backup dried fish can be given to visitors from other villages along with sweet potato or other food. Of course, this is not the only thing that you can do with it; you can also use it as a dish for breakfast.

3.ji anivoko ori am, so alililikey isio am,

As for the smaller fish, the fish that has not been cut down the middle, if you catch very few of them, then the fisherman will think, “There are so few little fish, how is it enough for the whole family?” At this time, you can take a large fish to add to the food to feed the family.

4.am no teyaro o alililikey am,

However, if one catches a lot of small fish, then he will think, Aiyo, why should I cut so many small fish open down the middle? Then he will not cut them all open and will just hang them up to dry, and these can be eaten whenever they are needed in the future.

5.ya wara siciaikoa ya am, ya to mipalma rana am,

When people refer to vokoen, pikeziin means the same thing as vokoen. Fish that can be hung up to dry in symmetrical halves include: vosisi fish, vazengten fish, pingpingen fish, matan fish, etc. These fish can all be caught with the seyrengan fishing method.

As for fish that can be cut into symmetrical halves that are caught during miselem time at night, well, actually it really doesn’t matter if they were caught during the day or during the night at miselem time. The fish that are normally caught are vosisi fish, pingpingen fish, matan fish, etc. These fish can also be caught during the night.

Fish caught at night that can be cut into symmetrical halves include: malaobot no Manok fish (but that one is caught with the nonoyan fishing method), arako so sileng fish (well, this one doesn’t need to be cut) talan fish, pasakahan fish, and sometimes vivian fish, paloy fish, etc. However, you may not always catch them all during miselem.

Vokoen is the term for the following action: For the sake of easier drying and storage, you cut a large fish into two pieces from the tail to the head along the back and the stomach and poke string through the eyes to hang it up to dry. The bones in the middle can be used for soups.

It is unclear whether it was matan or malan.
