There are two omaraw banquets during the flying fish season. One is held in the beginning of the first month (paneneb) of the season at the meeting places of fishing groups in celebration of the beginning of catching flying fish. The second one is held in the third month of the season (papataw, the month of catching dolphin fish during daytime, approximately April) at individual homes in celebration of the beginning of catching dolphin fish from a boat during daytime. The word omaraw is only used to refer to the two special banquets mentioned above. Other banquets in celebration of various festivals are called mamareng so kanen (See footnote 2).

[2] Mamareng so kanen

Mamareng so kanen (lit. make dinner) refers to banquets prepared for festivals.

Ipanakong (ipaN-sakong, <sakong) is a mat for surrounding a torch made of reed (to diffuse the light, for night fishing).

[4] Kapoan 直譯為之意, 是飛魚季的第一個月, 也叫paneneb(關門之月, 約陽曆的2月左右)

Kapoan (lit. ten) is the first month of the flying fish season. It is also called paneneb (the month of door closing, approximately February).
